There
are many things that can be set in the player.plr file that
cannot be set in the game. Open up your player file with
wordpad or notepad (found in the save folder of the main F1
game, or the save folder of a mod)
Then
scroll down or search to the line you want to edit.
Wordpad has a good search feature where you go to edit>find
and then type the first few letters of the word you're looking
for.
Here
are just a few of the most common tweaks, but there are many,
many more that you can experiment with:
*Note:
"0"
= Off
"1"
= On
[Race
Conditions]
Here
you can turn a number of race conditions for each type of
race. Just substitute 1 or 0 to turn them on or off.

Grid Walkthrough -
Formation Lap -
Weather (set the
number to 0 for random, 1 for actual season, or 2 for dry).
*For a championship season you have to change the weather line
in the .bch file (also in the save folder) to 2 for all dry
conditions. [Sound
Options] >>>
Track Load Commentary="0" The
most common one here is to turn the announcer off during the
track loading. >>>
Traction Control="1.95000" Increasing
traction control noise, or crowd noise also provides
interesting effects. [Graphic
Options]
>>>
Self In Rearview="1"
Allows
for wings/tires to show in rear view
>>>
Vehicle Sparks="1"
Whether
sparks occur from vehicle-to-vehicle collisions
>>>
Max Visible Vehicles="14"
Reducing
this helps improve frame rates >>>
Player Car Equal="1" 1
= all the cars equal 0
= cars vary in ability >>>
GDB="F1_2002.gdb" Useful
for changing to other custom game.gdb files you can create for
different players. Saves time by not having to swap
game.gdb files. >>>
CURNT Opponents="21" Important
for mods where there are more than 22 cars. Each race
type can be set for the number of opponents allowed.
